The Magnum Gallery returns to ArtGenève next week from January 26 to 29, 2023 at Palexpo. Our booth (B52) will present artworks by Eve Arnold, Matt Black, René Burri, Raymond Depardon, Leonard Freed, Harry Gruyaert, Josef Koudelka, Sergio Larrain, Herbert List, Martin Parr, Paolo Pellegrin, Alessandra Sanguinetti, Lindokuhle Sobekwa, and Alec Soth.
Among the artworks selected for this new edition of the fair, several prints by Raymond Depardon will be on view, including a photograph taken during his trip to west America in 1982, published in his book USA in 2018. Depardon visited the United States several times during his career. There, he photographed, for newspapers and for personal projects, key moments in history, but also more contemplative landscapes, emblematic of the American continent.
Also on display, a piece by Alec Soth from his series Niagara, published in a book in 2006. The series consists of a portrayal of the town that has traditionally been the romance capital of North America. The architecture of Niagara is a running theme throughout the book, the regulated functionality of the town’s motels alludes to the hidden passion played out behind closed doors.
We will also showcase the work of Josef Koudelka, who is exhibited at Photo Élysée (formerly musée de l’Élysée) until January 29. Our booth will present a print from his series Ruins for which the Czech photographer explored, for more than thirty years, 200 archeological sites of the Mediterranean region.
